KEY POINTS

  • Doomfist is trading damage for staying power and crowd control
  • Doomfist’s Uppercut skill will be replaced with a defensive shield
  • Orisa's abilities will focus on aggressively pushing enemy positions

The biggest changes heading to “Overwatch 2” include full reworks for Doomfist and Orisa, turning them into brand-new heroes.

The broader changes to “Overwatch 2’s” gameplay philosophy includes major alterations to the way the heroes are played. Doomfist is transitioning from a damage-dealer to a full-blown tank who thrives in the middle of the enemy team. Meanwhile, Orisa is getting more firepower, making her feel like a short-mid-range brawler.

New Doomfist Abilities

Doomfist will retain his combo-based, up-close-and-personal fighting style. However, he will be trading damage for staying power and crowd control.

His Uppercut move will be replaced by Power Block, which lets Doomfist protect himself with a damage-absorbing barrier. Tanking enough damage with Power Block empowers Rocket Fist, causing it to travel farther and deal more damage.

Seismic Slam will work like Winston’s leap, which can propel players toward the direction they’re facing. Upon impact, Seismic Slam will deal damage and slow enemies.

Likewise, Meteor Strike will damage and slow all enemies caught in the blast radius. Targets in the middle of the ring will take significantly more damage.
Rocket Punch and Hand Cannon will remain the same apart from rebalanced stats that favor reliability over damage output.

Rocket Punch and Hand Cannon remain mostly the same apart from rebalanced stats that favor reliability over damage output.

New Orisa Abilities

Orisa’s new kit will boost her brawling and pushing potential. Protective Barrier, Halt and Supercharger have all been replaced with new ones.

Her new primary fire mode releases large projectiles that gradually shrink as they travel. This new weapon works on an Overheat mechanic.

Energy Javelin launches a spear that stuns and knocks targets back while also dealing damage. The ability is more effective if a target hits a wall.

Javelin Spin is a defensive skill that destroys projectiles and pushes enemies back while damaging them. She also gains increased forward movement speed when spinning her javelin.

Fortify now increases her HP by 125 at the cost of slowing her movement by 20%. It also reduces the heat buildup rate of her new primary fire mode by 50%.

Her new ultimate, Terra Surge, causes Orisa to pull-in enemies for a high-damage radial blast.

The new skills will make Orisa an aggressive “push forward” hero, working best in the frontlines.
