Not all heroes wear capes. Some of them are little furry creatures who are brave enough to face danger to protect their beloved humans—just like Arthur, a courageous pet cat in Queensland, Australia, who attacked a deadly snake to save two children. Unfortunately, he died in the process.

Arthur and the two children were playing in the backyard of their home when the cat noticed the reptile approaching them. The feline immediately attacked and killed the snake but soon collapsed.

"An Eastern Brown Snake, one of Australia's top 10 highly venomous snakes, had entered the backyard right where the children were playing. Arthur jumped into action protecting his young family by killing the snake. Unfortunately, in the process, Arthur received a fatal envenomation snake bite," the Animal Emergency Service at Tanawha, which treated the feline, wrote in a Facebook post. "In the chaos of getting the children out of the yard, no-one saw the actual bite, but Arthur collapsed and quickly recovered like nothing was wrong not long after."

The following morning, the feline collapsed again and the owners noticed that he was unable to stand up. They rushed him to the vet and were informed that his symptoms were too severe and that he won't be able to recover.

"It was with the heaviest of hearts his owners had to leave Arthur after he gained his angel wings," the Animal Emergency Service continued. "His family, understandably devastated, remember him fondly and are forever grateful he saved the children's lives. Arthur was always getting into mischief; he had previously visited us before having been in accidents and was very much loved by our team."

In a similar incident in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, three pet dogs killed a 6-foot-long snake after the reptile tried to attack their owner. All the canines were bitten by the snake but managed to survive after being administered anti-venom on time. The video of the incident went viral on social media, with people praising the canine for their loyalty and courage.
