The rumored release date of Sony’s next-generation gaming console, PlayStation 5, is nearing. Because of this leaks and official details about the upcoming gaming console are rife online. The latest detail about PS5, as revealed by a game developer, is that its internal component will make it easier for players and developers to concentrate on the things that make video gaming great—FUN.

Chameleon Games Omar Sawi, recently revealed in an interview interesting details about PlayStation 5. One of the reasons why game developers will be able to focus on making their games great is because of the Solid State Drive that the PlayStation 5 has. The PS5’s SSD will change console gaming in a myriad of ways, says Sawi.

With the Solid State Drive incorporated on PlayStation 5, game developers will not have to worry about hardware restrictions. This has been one of the issues developers considered before with the PlayStation 4. For Chameleon Games, they are required to design the levels of their games in a specific way to avoid loading screens, which, obviously, has limited their ideal level of creativity for their titles.

With the PS5’s SSD, game developers have more freedom considering that loading screens are a pain. The Solid State Drive of the PlayStation 5 promises to cut the games’ load times radically. In terms of action games, Sawi shared that everything must be responsive and immediate to make it fun.

With a very responsive control of the character, high frame rate, fast game start, and everything in between, the PlayStation 5, through its Solid State Drive, promises to deliver a whole new level of gaming experience. Sony has not yet shared any new details about its next-generation gaming console. Mark Cerny previously shared that the next generation gaming console that Sony laboriously build for four years is not just a mere upgrade of the PlayStation 4.

The lead system architect of the upcoming gaming console from Sony also clarified that the PlayStation 5 would not be released this year although some game developers have already been working with it. He also revealed that the CPU of the PS5 is based on Gen 3 AMD Ryzen with octa-core based on AMD’s 7nm Zen 2 microarchitecture. Its GPU is a custom model of AMD’s Radeon Navi series and will support ray tracing.
