Three people were jailed for beating a pregnant teen and forcing detergent into her mouth in order to trigger miscarriage.

A court in England heard Tuesday that the incident took place in December 2018 when the 17-year-old unnamed girl arrived at her boyfriend, 22-year-old Harief Pearson’s home. Another teen girl was also present at home when the incident took place. The court heard that the victim and the teen girl got into an argument after which the former decided to leave the home. However, Pearson prevented her from doing so and also took away her mobile phone.

A while later, Pearson's friend Kydie McKenna, also arrived at the home. Shortly after his arrival, Pearson left the room and his two friends began assaulting the victim. They pushed her to the ground before kicking her in the stomach and face. During the assault, the duo told the victim that they wanted her to end her pregnancy.

Around 20 minutes after the assault began, Pearson entered the room and asked if they think she had miscarriage. He then ordered them to continue beating the victim. A while later, the teen brought detergent and forced it into the victim. Pearson ordered them to stop the assault when he realized it was time for his mother to return home.

The victim then managed to convince McKenna to call the medics. She was rushed to a nearby hospital. Police were alerted after she told the doctors about the assault. While Pearson and the teen girl were arrested the following day, McKenna, who had fled, was taken into custody a month later. Meanwhile, police said the baby had survived.

“This was a ferocious and prolonged attack on a vulnerable young girl who was held against her will and savagely beaten. While Pearson did not actually take part in the physical violence, he clearly plotted it and used McKenna and the 16-year-old girl to carry out his plan to cause the victim to miscarry her unborn child,” a police officer said.

“Only when Pearson thought the victim had miscarried, did the assault end. His actions were truly sickening. Thankfully, the baby was unharmed and I hope this sentencing give the victim some closure, and provides her with the strength she’ll need as she embarks on the next chapter of her life as a mother,” he added.

McKenna was sentenced to 10 years in prison while the teen girl was jailed for four years.
