  • Ceballos facing uncertain future
  • Ceballos ready to walk away from Los Blancos
  • Ceballos may reconsider Sevilla, Valencia interest

Dani Ceballos holds an uncertain future as his contract runs out after this season. He is currently on loan with Arsenal FC, a team where he has played well when healthy. The 23-year-old struggled to play for the Gunners this season but managed to prove his worth to Mikel Arteta.

With his deal running out, the normal recourse is to either buy him out or work on a loan extension. Unfortunately, the contract between Arsenal and Real does not include a buyout option. Hence, the next best thing is a loan extension. But with his pact with Los Blancos running out, he needs to hook up with a club next season. The Gunners would make sense only that there are questions in the air on whether Arteta has the funds to take him in. Like most clubs, Arsenal is dealing with financial limitations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Given those scenarios, the future of Ceballos is not looking good. All he can do now is play to the best of his abilities for the remainder of the season and hope some club approaches him. If he ends up with no takers, the attacking midfielder may opt to focus on the European Championships and the Olympic Games instead. He revealed these options in an interview with Canal Sur Radio.

“My objective is to play in the European Championship and Olympic Games, and when they are happening you need to find a team where you feel important,” Ceballos said.

Ceballos has established himself as someone Arteta can rely on during games. He is expected to continue to show that when the Gunners take the field on June 17. The Spaniard will need to focus on the Gunners' remaining games despite a murky future.

If his stint with the Gunners does come to an end, it was mentioned in a previous post how Ceballos was being considered by Sevilla FC. Before, seeing that happen was a long shot. Sevilla is the fierce rival of his former team Betis. But if there are limited options and an offer is made, Ceballos may want to consider it. Aside from Las Palanganas, the only other team linked to him was Valencia. However, these two teams could be experiencing financial difficulties as well, placing Ceballos in a pretty precarious situation this summer.
