Prince Harry’s gift for wife Meghan Markle for her 39th birthday had a personal touch.

Markle turned 39 on Tuesday and marked the occasion with an intimate family gathering with Prince Harry, their son Archie and her mother, Doria Ragland, at the couple’s rented home in Los Angeles. A source has revealed to Us Weekly some details about the Duchess of Sussex’s 39th birthday, including what Prince Harry decided to give his wife this year.

“He wanted the gift to be personal, so he surprised Meghan with a necklace that he designed. And a framed photograph of the two of them, which he took himself,” the insider shared.

After their family celebration, the source said Markle's mom looked after Markle and Prince Harry's 14-month-old son while the royal couple enjoyed a romantic evening together. The Duke of Sussex not only gave his wife some thoughtful presents but also cooked for Markle — with a little help from his mother-in-law.

“Harry cooked Meghan a three-course dinner, but Doria helped him with the preparation. While Harry has become a better cook since marrying Meghan, he still has a long way to go,” the tipster added.

The insider revealed that the former “Suits” actress, after opting for a “small and intimate celebration” this year, is eager to throw a “big, glamourous” party and invite all of her friends when she turns 40 years old next August.

Apart from the dinner and the gifts, Prince Harry also had another trick up his sleeve. The source said he ordered a “huge chocolate birthday cake, covered in icing sugar and balloons” for his wife’s big day.

Speaking of cakes, Luminary Bakery in London commemorated Markle’s birthday by auctioning off a cake. Last year, the shop baked a carrot cake for the Duchess of Sussex’s special day. The said dessert made its way to Frogmore Cottage, where the family was residing at the time.

For this year, the bakery decided to create a “lemon celebration cake.” For every $13 donation to the shop that empowers women, the donor’s name will be added to a raffle. The winner will take home the dessert.

Meanwhile, Markle, like her husband, also goes the extra mile when giving gifts to her significant other. A source told People that the Duchess of Sussex celebrated Prince Harry's 35th birthday in September last year by bringing back memories from their 2016 Botswana trip.

“Last year, for Harry's birthday, Meghan recreated their Botswana camping adventures in their backyard,” the insider said in May. “It's a place that means so much to them — and to Harry in particular — so Meghan wanted to bring that happy place to him on his day so she set up a tent, got sleeping bags, cooked dinner and recreated Botswana where they fell in love.”
