Prince Harry and Meghan Markle failed to charm Queen Elizabeth II for not bringing Archie with them.

In January, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they were stepping back as senior members of the royal family. They dropped the bombshell announcement after they returned to the U.K. from Canada where they spent Christmas. However, they didn’t bring Archie along with them when they returned.

Prince Harry and Markle immediately flew to Vancouver after their shocking announcement and reunited with their son. They returned to the U.K. last week to carry out some engagements and to join the royal family on Monday for the Commonwealth service sans Archie. According to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams, they should have brought Archie with them when they returned for their final engagement at least for the Queen’s husband and Prince Harry’s grandfather, Prince Philip, who will be turning 99 next month.

“His views may be from a different generation, but since he is 99 in June it would have been a charming gesture if Harry and Meghan had brought Archie to see him and the Queen, who, after all, is 94 in April,” Fitzwilliams told Express.

The royal commentator added that it wasn’t confirmed if the Duke of Edinburgh met with the royal couple before they departed. He also believed that Prince Philip would have not approved of the Sussexes’ decision to turn their backs from their royal duties.

“We don’t know if Prince Philip saw Harry and Meghan during their recent visit when the undertook their last official royal duties as senior royals. I strongly doubt that he would have made a special appearance as he has a strong sense of duty and he would not have endorsed their wish for independence and certainly not the way they handled it,” Fitzwilliams added.

Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth II reportedly snubbed Prince Harry and Markle by dropping them from the main VIP party. The Sussexes were reportedly very upset. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge tried to defuse the tension by opting to join them by waiting on their seats.

However, Prince William and Kate Middleton were accused of snubbing Prince Harry and Markle despite their effort because they barely acknowledged them. According to body language expert Bianca Cobb, Middleton didn’t even look at Prince Harry and Markle.
