Prince Harry reportedly preferred his ex-girlfriend's Chelsy Davy's apartment than Prince Charles' Clarence home.

Prior to Meghan Markle, the Duke of Sussex had an on-again, off-again relationship with Davy. In fact, many thought that the two would end up together. Apparently, they didn’t.

According to royal biographer Katie Nicholl, Prince Harry made a huge decision when he was still with Davy. He was reportedly given keys to her $1.96 million apartment in London.

Prince Harry was still training at the Army Air Corps helicopter in Hampshire at the time. On weekends, he used Davy’s flat as a retreat.

“Harry would stay at Chelsy’s every weekend, and his protection officers moved in as well,” a source told Nicholl.

“The apartment has three double bedrooms. Chelsy and Harry share the master room and the two spare rooms are always made up in case her family comes over to stay.”

Prince Harry allegedly helped his then-girlfriend do the place. In fact, he preferred to be there than stay at Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles’ home. However, it was small and when Prince William and Kate Middleton stayed there, the place was “really cramped.”

“They would throw house parties for friends and Harry was helping Chelsy do the place up. He had quite a lot of his stuff there and said he preferred being there to Clarence House, which is not what you would expect,” the insider added.

Prince Harry and Davy began dating in 2003 but split in 2009. They reconciled in 2010 and reportedly promised that they would be committed to each other. Both said that they wanted to be together. However, it was reportedly Chelsy who changed her mind because she realized she couldn’t live with the excessive attention from the media.

Following their split, Chelsy said that dating a royal was “crazy and scary and uncomfortable” especially that she was still too young when she was with Prince Harry.

“I couldn't cope ... I was trying to be a normal kid, and it was horrible,” Davy said.

Meanwhile, royal biographer Andrew Morton was convinced that Davy was the right girl for Prince Harry. He believed that the only issue between the exes was that Davy “couldn’t take the publicity“ and Markle, being an actress, could handle it well.
