  • Prince Louis participated in the royal family's traditional holiday church service Sunday
  • Prince William and Kate Middleton's youngest child stole the show with his silly antics
  • Prince Louis was seen smiling, waving and shaking hands with well-wishers after the Christmas service

Prince Louis stole the show when he took part in one holiday tradition of the British royal family for the first time this year.

Kate Middleton and Prince William's youngest child joined his parents and siblings — Prince George, 9, and Princess Charlotte, 7 — at the royal family's holiday church outing in Norfolk, England, on Christmas Day.

Although the 4-year-old royal appeared to attend the service last year, COVID-19 precautions prevented the royals from doing their traditional walk to the service as well as meeting with members of the public.

At one point during the Sunday outing, Prince Louis, who was dressed in a navy jacket, shorts and knee socks, was caught on camera hilariously running after his family after he started to take gifts from well-wishers lined up outside St. Mary Magdalene's church in Sandringham and lagged behind.

The footage, which was filmed and posted by Twitter user @Johny5issoalive, caught the attention of royal fans and social media users.

"Prince Louis getting left behind collecting presents at Sandringham this morning," the user wrote.

"Oops, Prince Louis stayed with the public too long and has to run to catch up with his parents and his siblings! This is adorable and funny at the same time," one commenter wrote.

"Prince Louis is me when my parents shout that Christmas lunch is ready," another commented.

Prince Louis was also photographed tugging on his mom's arm as Middleton greeted well-wishers outside the church in an attempt to stop her from talking and to move along, Page Six reported.

"Prince Louis has an appointment it seems," one Twitter user wrote with a laughing emoji alongside footage of Prince Louis pulling Middleton's arm.

"He is definitely his mother's son. Prince Louis is already a prince of the walkabouts, and just like his mother, he stands behind waving to the public," another user commented.

Other Twitter users shared more photos of Prince Louis from the event, including ones of him waving to the crowd and shaking hands with royal fans.

Prince Louis also made headlines in June for his hilarious antics during Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

During the four days of festivities, Prince Louis was seen making silly faces as he and the royal family stood on the Buckingham Palace balcony during the Trooping the Colour.

The young prince was also snapped during the Platinum Jubilee Pageant making a series of faces, sticking out his tongue, putting his hand over his mother's mouth and putting his thumb to his nose while wiggling his remaining fingers as Middleton tried to stop him.

The Prince and Princess of Wales just laughed off their youngest son's antics. After the Jubilee celebrations, Prince William and Middleton tweeted, "We all had an incredible time, especially Louis... [eyes emoji]."

Meanwhile, Zara Tindall's husband, Mike Tindall, said on "The Good, the Bad & the Rugby" podcast that Prince Louis' behavior was likely due to the "sweets" he ate that gave him a "complete sugar high" that day.
