Princess Anne celebrated her 68th birthday on Aug. 15, and her relationship with her dad, Prince Philip, made headlines to commemorate the special occasion.

Eileen Parker, the wife of Prince Philip’s close friend, Mike Parker, said that Princess Anne is Prince Philip’s favorite child. After she was born, the Duke of Edinburgh declared that she was the sweetest girl.

“The Duke of Edinburgh always had more fun with Anne. Charles is more like the Queen, while Anne is very like Prince Philip,” she said.

Charlie Moloney, a journalist for Express, also said that Prince Philip and Princess Anne share similar interests. For instance, they both love horse racing. In 1976, Princess Anne even competed in the Olympic games in Montreal.

Princess Anne is also as dedicated as her father to her royal engagements. At one point, she almost exceeded her dad’s work for the royal family. During an interview, the princess was asked if she plans to slow down anytime soon.

She replied, “Look around at the members of my family who are considerably older than me and tell me whether they have set an example which suggests I might – unlikely.”

In related news, Princess Anne recently made headlines after reports swirled that Prince Charlotte may one day inherit her title as Princess Royal. The title was given to Princess Anne as the only female child of the current monarch. And since Prince Charles doesn’t have any daughters, even if he becomes king, none of his sons will get the title.

Prince William, on the other hand, has a daughter. When he becomes king, Princess Charlotte may be called Princess Royal. However, this title won’t be given to her automatically. Prince William has to decide whether or not he wants to give the recognition to his only daughter, according to People.
