Prince William inherited Prince Philip and Prince Charles’ grave concern over overpopulation.

According to Daily Express’ Matthew Kirkham, Prince William shares Prince Charles and Prince Philip’s concern for the continuous growth of the population. The Prince of Wales and Duke of Edinburgh are very open in speaking out about this matter. In 2010, Prince Charles talked about how the population in Nigeria has risen from 300,000 to 20 million during his lifetime.

According to the future king, it was equivalent to the entire population of the United Kingdom every year before adding that the world that already struggles to sustain 6.8 billion people, will have to support over 9 billion people within 50 years.

“In the next 50 years, we face monumental problems as the figures rocket,” Prince Charles said.

Prince Philip also deemed overpopulation as a grave concern. In 1984, Prince Philip was asked what he considered the most serious issue faced by conservationist worldwide in the next 20 years. At the time, the 97-year-old royal blamed overpopulation for the disappearance of 95 percent of the Atlantic rainforest in Brazil and the lack of animal habitat.

“At the basis of it all is this colossal increase in the human population, it is one of the living species of the planet but it’s reaching plague proportions,” Prince Philip said.

The senior royal called for “voluntary family limitations” and lamented how this issue has reached “plagued proportions.”

In 2010, Prince William aired his concern about the same matter. Kate Middleton’s husband believed that people have to work much harder to ensure that human beings and other animal species continue to co-exist.

The human population is predicted to more than double by 2050. Prince William opined that this increase would put wildlife and habitats under “enormous pressure.”

“Urbanisation, infrastructure development, cultivation—all good things in themselves, but they will have a terrible impact unless we begin to plan and to take measures now,” Prince William said.

In related news, Prince William was “mortified” when he learned about Princess Diana’s controversial “Panorama” interview. He was shocked how the late Princess of Wales talked about her troubled marriage with Prince Charles and her affair with James Hewitt.

Also, Princess Diana’s new musical titled “Diana” has been criticized for being “tasteless.” One audience member said that Prince William and Prince Harry won’t be happy with the show. Ingrid Seward added that it’s best to ignore it.
