Princess Diana and Prince Charles didn’t treat each other with love and kindness all throughout their marriage. In fact, there are reports suggesting that Prince Charles hated how Princess Diana overshadowed him.

The late royal also disliked how Prince Charles never dealt with her sudden outbursts and mood swings. In the same way that the heir to the throne never felt his wife’s support.

On the online forum site Quora, royal fans are wondering if the Princess of Wales purposely tried to make Prince Charles jealous during their marriage. Deanna Eppers, an ardent follower of the royal family, said that was most definitely the case.

“Yes. Of course, Diana wanted Prince Charles to feel something other than utterly in love with Camilla Parker-Bowles. What did Diana do about it? Nothing much. I’ve been researching this answer because I erroneously believed Diana’s flings with other men were to inflame Charles with jealousy, but that ploy did not work, and Diana was searching for love rather than trying to make her husband jealous,” she said.

However, Eppers also said that Princess Diana’s attempts to make Prince Charles’ jealous so that his attention will be swayed from Camilla didn’t work. In fact, when the Princess of Wales tried to stand up for herself in front of Camilla, the Prince of Wales was less than amused.

“Diana did not try to make Prince Charles jealous. And even if she had, I do not think it would have worked. They would have engaged in another one of their rows and nothing would have been accomplished,” Eppers said.

And at the end of the day, Prince Charles remained faithful to Camilla. Even after Prince Charles and Princess Diana divorced, the future King and Camilla’s relationship progressed. And after her death, the couple had more freedom to be together.

But out of respect for Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s supporters, the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall waited for a couple of years before they tied the knot.
