Princess Diana never wore gloves like Queen Elizabeth II for a moving reason.

The Queen has been seen wearing white gloves not for stylish reasons but for protection. She meets a lot of people when attending royal engagements and wearing gloves enables her to stop spreading germs.

Cornelia James have supplied the Queen her gloves since they made her a pair for her honeymoon in 1947. When Her Majesty attends an engagement she usually keeps multiple pair of gloves with her.

“I imagine she always has two or three pairs in her handbag to spare,” Genevieve James, creator director at Cornelia James and daughter of the founder said.

Unlike Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Diana had been seen touching individuals with illnesses including AIDS and she never wore gloves. Prince Harry and Prince William’s mom reportedly avoided wearing a pair because “she wanted flesh to flesh contact.” Anna Harvey, Vogue former deputy editor, once placed a dozen of suede gloves for the late Princess of Wales. However, they sat unworn.

Just like Princess Diana, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle don’t wear gloves too. According to netizens, wearing gloves is only suitable for formal occasions. Many also believed that the Queen wears gloves for fashion and because she was raised that way.

“The Queen wears them because that’s how she was raised,” Eileen Woods explained. “Back ‘in the day’, no self-respecting woman in the UK or US left home without a hat, gloves, stockings, and a slip under her dress.”

“Although it is very nice to see, it is an old fashioned concept, one that Her Majesty likes but it was never a requirement of Royalty solely, many ladies wore gloves when out and about, along with hats and the other ‘niceties’ of a bygone era that is slowly passing,” Laura Warwick Martin added.

In related news, Princess Diana embarrassed Prince William instead of making him proud with her infamous Panorama interview. Many believed that the duke was furious and embarrassed because the People’s Princess aired their dirty laundry to the public.
