Prince Charles and Princess Diana were caught kissing each other affectionately in public after the latter took a break from playing polo.

Royal photographer Kent Gavin snapped the royal couple’s adorable photo at Windsor in 1985. Following its release, royal fans were surprised to see the Prince and Princess of Wales looking happy as ever since Princess Diana complained about their marriage just a year before.

During her interview with Andrew Morton for his book “Diana: Her True Story,” the mom of two detailed Prince Charles’ heartbreaking reaction when he found out that their second son, Prince Harry, was a boy.

“Charles and I were very, very close to each other. Then suddenly, as Harry was born, it just went bang, our marriage. The whole thing went down the drain,” Princess Diana said.

Prince Charles clarified that he was just joking about his comment but Princess Diana knew deep in her heart that her ex-husband wanted their second child to be a girl. A few weeks later, Prince Harry was baptized and Prince Charles made another shocking comment about his son.

While speaking with his then mother-in-law, Frances Shand Kydd, Prince Charles said that he was so disappointed because he thought Prince Harry will be a girl. Kydd reportedly became upset with Prince Charles’ comment that she reminded him that he’s lucky to have been blessed with a healthy child.

“Ever since that day, the shutters have come down – and that’s what [Charles] does when he gets somebody answering back at him,” Princess Diana said.

In the book “Harry: Conversations With the Prince,” royal author Angela Levin revealed that there was tension brewing between the Prince and Princess of Wales while they were posing for a photo outside the hospital after Prince Harry was born.

“As she stood on the steps, she turned to face her husband, her expression a mixture of love, vulnerability, and yearning. Charles, however, stood with his hands behind his back, a gesture typical of Prince Philip, and did not return his wife’s gaze. It seemed even at this joyous, thankful time the mismatched couple could not conceal their differences,” she said.

But just a year later, Princess Diana seemingly forgave Prince Charles when she kissed him passionately in public. At that time, no one knew that there was trouble in paradise.
