  • Prince Charles and Princess Diana's divorce was described as toxic and horrendous
  • A royal expert hopes it won't happen to royal couples today
  • Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are rumored to be divorcing in three to five years

Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s toxic divorce was one of the most controversial events within the royal family. And a royal expert could only hope that the same thing won’t ever happen again.

On the “Royals” podcast, royal commentator Angela Mollard said that she hopes Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s horrendous divorce will not be repeated.

“I was in London through those years and there was backstabbing and little dropping of stories and friends ringing up royal reporters and saying this and that about the others. And of course, we had those huge interviews. The Panorama interview where Diana said there were three in the marriage. And Charles’s interview with Jonathan Dimbleby in which he admitted he had cheated on Diana ‘after it was irretrievably broken down,’” she said.

Mollard also talked about Andrew Morton’s book, “Diana: My True Story,” which she had not only endorsed but had also been the major source of.

“She recorded her thoughts on a tape recorder and those tapes were passed on to Andrew Morton to write that book. There’s not been that level of disclosure within the Royal Family. What I think we’re seeing is a more grown-up approach to divorce. They’re older when they’re divorcing, the Linelys were together for 26 years, they have shared interests. There’s a much more mature way of approaching it,” she said.

Meanwhile, there have been some unfounded claims that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are on the brink of divorcing. Shortly after they tied the knot, some experts gave the royal couple a five-year prediction and said that their divorce will take place in a couple of years.

Last month, some Twitter users also predicted Prince Harry and Markle’s divorce.

“MMW: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will get a divorce within the next 3-4 years,” Twitter user @MarkMyWords456 said.

“Six months, three years for the paperwork,” Twitter user @asmaa_gilliland said.
