Princess Diana had a soulmate, but it's not Prince Charles, according to former royal butler Paul Burrell.

In Amazon Prime's documentary "The Diana Story," Burrell named a man whom he considered as the late Princess of Wales' soulmate. However, he said it was not the Prince of Wales. According to Burrell, Hasnat Khan, a heart surgeon, was the most suited for the late royal. The two met in 1995. Khan was working at the Royal Brompton Hospital in Chelsea, and the People's Princess had been visiting the children on the wards.

Princess Diana reportedly came back from the hospital and said, "The most astonishing thing’s happened to me today."

"This gorgeous man was staring at me," the People's Princess told Burrell (via Express). "I knew then. I knew I would have a relationship with him. Our chemistry was so strong."

Princess Diana and Khan's relationship reportedly began that summer and last for two years. However, no one knew about it. According to Burrell, he was ordered to keep the romance a secret.

"I would bring him into the Palace. I'd ask the chef to cook dinner for two. I'd wait dinner for two," he continued. "And in the morning I’d take him back, in the boot of my car, to the hospital. So, the police never saw him. The chefs never saw him. The maids never saw him. No one saw him, just me."

In the same documentary, it was revealed that Princess Diana was expected to end up with Prince Andrew and not Prince Charles. Princess Diana and Prince Andrew were apparently much closer to each other in age.

Meanwhile, Prince Charles used to date Princess Diana's sister, Lady Sara. However, Princess Diana's personality stole the future king's attention. "Charles had been paired off with Diana's older sister Sarah and they had enjoyed a skiing trip to Klosters," royal biographer Katie Nicholl wrote in her book "The Making Of A Royal Romance." "It was lissome and gamine Diana who caught the Prince's eye at a friend's barbecue in the autumn of 1980."

Although Princess Diana stole Prince Charles' eye, she never really got the prince's heart. Many believe that he has always been in love with Camilla Parker Bowles. In fact, even Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip reportedly blamed their own son for his failed marriage with Princess Diana.

"If anything, I believe, that she and her husband Prince Philip put more of the blame on Prince Charles, and Prince Charles of course, as we since discovered, was already committed emotionally to another woman," Robert Lacey explained.
