Princess Eugenie and Meghan Markle’s body language during their respective royal weddings were recently compared by an expert.

While speaking with Express, Judi James said that the 28-year-old daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson was a more traditional bride compared to the Duchess of Sussex.

“Eugenie adopted non-verbal cues of a more traditional royal princess bride on a bit of a pedestal, who may have also been focused on subtly boosting and supporting her very nervous-looking husband while performing the ‘Swan in the Lake’ trick of swimming elegantly through her wedding while her feet were paddling away furiously underneath the water line,” James said.

The body language expert also said that the style of Princess Eugenie’s wedding dress affected the way she moved that day. The royal’s full skirt that accentuated her waist restricted her from making spontaneous movements.

This is also why Princess Eugenie’s husband, Jack Brooksbank, stood at more of an arm’s length to his bride, unlike Prince Harry and Markle. And just like Prince Charles and Princess Diana and Prince Andrew and Ferguson, Brooksbank adopted the role of presenting his bride to the public from a slightly larger distance.

Markle’s wedding dress, on the other hand, allowed her to move more freely. It also allowed her to give Prince Harry the so-called look of love once they stepped out of St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

“Unlike her Eugenie, she had her mother in the car with her and this allowed for some more moments of emotional sharing, looking excited with Doria as well as throwing some tie-sign eye contact to the fans and then sharing the fun of the day with Harry once the service was over,” James explained.

Princess Eugenie and Brooksbank also tied the knot at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. But their Oct. 12, 2018, wedding came five months after Prince Harry and Markle tied the knot.
