If a new leak is to be believed, Sony could be rolling out the PS4 4.50 firmware update as well as the PSVR 2.40 patch this Tuesday, March 7. Interestingly, it wouldn’t be surprising if the new firmware update for PS4 indeed launches tomorrow, for beta testing appears to already be in its final phase.

According to PlayStation Universe, a PlayStation Support leak is hinting that PS4 could be updating to 4.50 this Tuesday. The leak comes from Reddit user Finch-Tench, who apparently emailed PlayStation Support to raise a concern about image drift problems. The Redditor simply asked if this issue will be addressed by the PSVR 2.40 patch. Interestingly, he got more than just a simple yes or no response from the customer service team.

“Wit the release of System Software 4.50 tomorrow, there will be a patch to version 2.40 of the PSVR firmware. I do not have specifics on what the patch contains, outside of support for 3D Blu-Rays,” a PlayStation Support player support specialist named Matthew wrote in response to Finch-Tench’s inquiry.

The Redditor included a screenshot in his subreddit to prove that the conversation between him and the player support specialist transpired.

Sony has yet to confirm or even announce that PS4 4.50 is releasing to the public this week. However, VG 24/7 thinks it makes sense that the new firmware gets rolled out this Tuesday. Typically, beta testing for an upcoming update lasts for a month. Beta testing for the PS4 4.50 update started on Feb. 3, so it’s already more than a month since it began.

Based on previous reports, the upcoming firmware update is bringing major enhancements to the PS4 software. Among its expected features are support for external HDDs, custom background wallpapers and a Boost Mode that is expected to make unpatched PS4 titles run smoothly on PS4 Pro. Certain tweaks to the UI and support for 3D Blu-Ray for PSVR are also part of this feature-rich update.
