This may be a somewhat nostalgic assessment, but Disney movies now -- and, no, Pixar does not count -- will never match its films of the 1990s.

Sure, "Frozen" may be the highest-grossing animated movie of all time, but we need to let it go. And while we wait a few years for the the 2010s to finish, we argue the Disney film lineup ranging broadly from "The Little Mermaid" to "Lilo & Stitch" is the greatest of all time.

In complete fairness, there's a bit of liberty taken here with what’s considered the 1990s, as the flicks "Oliver & Company" and "The Little Mermaid" made their debuts in 1988 and 1989, respectively, while "Lilo & Stitch" premiered in 2002.

Still, this is one nice-looking mash-up. Pulling together Simba, Ariel, Belle, Aladdin and Mulan is enough to make any '90s kid nostalgic.

For Disney, "The Little Mermaid" marked a period of revitalization for the animation studio, which led to other notable films, such as "Beauty and the Beast," which was the first animated movie to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar. (Sadly, it lost to "Silence of the Lambs.")

It also led to Disney taking risks with films such as "Pocahontas." While the movie was criticized by Native Americans, there’s an argument to be made that its heroine was well ahead of her time.

So, which is the best Disney film of the '90s? The world may never know.
