Amandla Stenberg hasn't been afraid to call out other celebrities for appropriating black culture. In the latest instance, Stenberg schools Kylie Jenner, after Jenner posted an Instagram photo of herself in cornrows.

Comments started pouring in, criticizing Jenner for appropriating the hairstyle. According to Us Weekly, Stenberg weighed in, writing, “when u appropriate black features and culture but fail to use ur position of power to help black Americans by directing attention towards ur wigs instead of police brutality or racism #whitegirlsdoitbetter."

Jenner responded with a jab at Stenberg and Jaden Smith, but then both Jenner and Stenberg seemed to back off.

However, Twitter users kept up the fight.

This isn't the first time Stenberg has spoken up about stars wearing cornrows. In a video earlier this year, Stenberg explained why hair is important in the black community and how white musicians appropriate black culture. Stenberg name-checks various musicians, including Iggy Azalea and Riff Raff.

And, it's not a secret that various white celebrities throughout the years have donned cornrows. The list includes people like Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, and Fergie. However, Stenberg has showed that she doesn't want to take cultural appropriation laying down.

We hope her thoughtful voice and input can help frame discussions and influence actions moving forward.
