Queen Elizabeth II has not bestowed Meghan Markle an honor that Kate Middleton, Camilla Parker Bowles and Princess Diana all share.

The Duchess of Sussex has received the honor of many royal first from the Queen. However, the monarch has not given her a role that is particularly close to the royals.

According to Anna Kretschmer of Express, Markle does not hold an honorary military appointment in contrast to the other female royals. Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Anne, Princess Diana, Camilla and Middleton all have military appointments.

The Duchess of Cambridge currently holds the position of Honorary Air Commandant of the RAF Air Cadets. The appointment supports Middleton’s passion for young people and education because it trains 12 to 20 year olds in flying, outdoors and leadership skills.

Markle may not mind the lack of military appointment because she also doesn’t show any interest in it. The Duchess of Sussex’s areas of expertise centers around social issues, environmentalism and women’s leadership.

In related news, Middleton remains more popular than Markle in the royal family ranking. The Duchess of Cambridge ranked fourth in a poll as the most popular member of the British royal family. On the other hand, Markle was on the sixth spot.

Middleton received 64 percent positive opinion, 10 percent negative and 22 percent neutral. Meanwhile, Markle scored 49 percent positive feedback, 16 percent negative and 28 percent neutral.

Middleton was positioned next to Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Harry and Prince William. On the contrary, even if Markle wasn’t as popular as her sister-in-law based on the survey, she was in a more favorable position compared to other senior royals including Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Camilla, Prince Edward, Prince Andrew, Princess Eugenie, Princess Beatrice and Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

The Duchess of Sussex has been facing a slew of criticism due to her inconsistencies. Her friend Lizzie Cundy mentioned how Markle asked for privacy then showed up lifting up little outfits for her son, Archie, and editing magazines.

“I just think you can’t have it both ways. You can’t take £2.4million of taxpayers money to do up their cottage, it rubs people up the wrong way,” Cundy said.
