Queen Elizabeth II is firmly committed to helping her son, Prince Charles, when it comes to his eventual reign as King of England. A new report claims the Queen is taking several steps to help him transition into his new role as king when the time comes.

According to Express UK, the 92-year-old monarch is not only handing over more responsibilities to her son in preparation for his eventual reign, but she is meeting with him often to discuss the transition of power.

“The Queen at her next birthday will be 92. She has not completed a long-haul state visit since 2011,” royal author Robert Jobson told the site. “Although the Prince of Wales has talked about there only being one sovereign at a time and that is true, what you do have is a bit of a dual monarchy at the moment and a transition that is ongoing.”

“Every week the Prince of Wales and the Queen meet privately and go through everything,” he added. “She is very aware that a transition is in process.”

Queen Elizabeth has been the UK’s longest-serving monarch in history, having taken the throne at the age of 25 in 1952. She officially appointed her son as her successor in April of this year.
