Queen Elizabeth II was reportedly frustrated when Kate Middleton broke royal rules.

The Duchess of Cambridge is not a rule breaker. However, just like Meghan Markle, there were times when she allegedly broke the royal protocol and Queen Elizabeth II wasn’t happy about it.

Recently, Middleton made headlines after greeting the Queen with a kiss when Her Majesty arrived at the Chelsea Flower Show to support the unveiling of Middleton’s Back to Nature garden. The act raised eyebrows because the members of the Firm are against public displays of affection.

In addition, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a pair of wedge shoes for the event. Queen Elizabeth II is a “notorious wedge-hater.” A source told Vanity Fair that Queen Elizabeth II doesn’t like the footwear and it’s well known among the women in the royal family.

According to Amanda Harding, certain rules of the royal family are still strictly upheld, so Queen Elizabeth II is “getting a little frustrated with Kate Middleton constantly bending the rules especially since she’ll rule alongside Prince William one day soon.” However, she believes that Her Majesty would never disgrace Middleton publicly for breaking the royal rules.

Meanwhile, according to Mirror’s Zoe Forsey, Middleton didn’t break protocol when she greeted the monarch with a kiss on the cheek. It’s reportedly normal for the members of the royal family to greet each other with a kiss on the cheek at less formal events. Prince William, Prince Harry, Camilla Parker Bowles, and Zara Tindall were all photographed doing the same to Her Majesty.

Queen Elizabeth II and Middleton have a great relationship. The two women have even become allies. The way they interact is a sign of a strong bond as they grow closer over the years. One source also said that the monarch is “very fond” of Middleton because she likes the duchess’ “middle-class values” and how close she is to her family.

However, there is something that the Queen gave to Markle that took longer for Middleton to receive. Queen Elizabeth II scheduled her joint outing with the Duchess of Sussex less than a month after she married Prince Harry. On the other hand, it took almost a year before Queen Elizabeth II and Middleton made their joint engagement together.
