“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kenya Moore has found herself at the center of several messy situations on Season 12 of the Bravo series. However, offscreen, the former pageant queen has been trying to save her marriage.

In September, Kenya announced that she and her husband, Marc Daly, would be divorcing. Since she released the statement, neither party has taken the steps to legally end their marriage. Instead, Kenya claims they are in the process of working out their “biggest issue.”

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 49-year-old revealed she and Marc were never able to have a “healthy fight” because of their struggle to openly communicate with one another.

“I think, being vulnerable, throwing away ego and pride is very important, because you can’t really get to the bones of how someone really feels unless they’re able to just put everything out on the table, and be really raw and vulnerable,” she explained.

“And I think the last part of it is just loving, knowing that you both are in this partnership and you both want to make it work and have a beautiful family. I mean, we have that, and I would hate to lose it.”

Although Kenya wants her husband back, the two are still separated. “We are still apart, but we are better friends now than we have been in a very long time,” she said.

“We’re co-parenting great. We are going to be going to counseling soon. So, I’m optimistic,” the reality star added.

However, if their marriage is going to work, Kenya revealed they will have to make major changes. “I would like to stay in this marriage because I still have love for my husband, but it has to change -- a lot of things will have to change,” she noted.

“Communication, number one. It has to always be respectful communication, even when you’re upset, when you’re hurt, and when you’re angry. Whatever the emotions you might be feeling at the time, you have to always keep in mind that you are a partnership, and you cannot take some things back. Once they’re said or done, they cannot be taken back.”

Fans can watch the issues in Kenya and Marc’s marriage unfold on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” Season 12, airing Sundays at 8 p.m. EST on Bravo.
