Two months after news that a "Friends" reunion special was in the works broke, it seems fans may have gotten their hopes up for nothing.

All ten seasons of "Friends" will be available on HBO's new streaming platform HBO Max when it launches in May, but the reunion special--which would hope to include the show's stars Courteney Cox (Monica), Jennifer Aniston (Rachel), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe), Matthew Perry (Chandler), Matt LeBlanc (Joey) and David Schwimmer (Ross)--may not.

"There is interest all around and yet we can’t get the interests all alighted to push the button on it," HBO Max’s Chief Creative Officer Kevin Reilly said about the reunion special at TCA, according to Deadline.

"Today it’s just maybe," he added.

So, what's the hold-up? Apparently they aren't able to come to an agreement about money.

Negotiations between the cast and Warner Bros. TV have come to a standstill due to the huge, "eight-figure gap" (meaning at least $10 million) between cast salary demands and what the studio is willing to shell out, as reported by the entertainment news site.

The "Friends" reunion special was in the works to help launch the show's reruns when they become available on HBO Max. Even though the project is currently on hold, fans can rest assured knowing that they can relish in all the nostalgia of the show's ten seasons.
