A latest rumor surrounding actress Jennifer Aniston and actor Justin Theroux claimed the estranged couple still stayed in touch with each other via “regular” phone calls and texts even after seven months since their breakup. The story was debunked by Gossip Cop.

The rumor was started by Hollywood Life’s article titled “Jennifer Aniston & Justin Theroux Still Talk ‘Regularly’ Post-Split: She Thinks About Him ‘Every Day’.” In the piece, an unnamed source was quoted as having an exclusive scoop on the couple’s relationship after their breakup.

“Jen and Justin still talk, text and email each other fairly regularly, and they’re on surprisingly good terms considering they split not that long ago,” a so-called source close to Aniston told Hollywood Life. “Unlike the majority of celebrity couples who claim to have ‘lovingly’ separated and vow they’re still friends, Jen and Justin actually did and they really are!”

The anonymous insider cited the fact that Aniston and Theroux’s “break-up really was pretty amicable, there was no third party involved, no scandal, no screaming fights” as the reason behind the couple choosing to stay in contact, even after their breakup.

“They just came to the conclusion that their relationship had run its course and they would be better off apart,” the source said. “Jen still thinks about Justin a lot, pretty much every day she sees something that she thinks he would find funny, and she’ll often send Justin a photo or an anecdote that she knows will make him laugh. They really were a great couple, and they complimented each other perfectly. It’s super sad that it didn’t work out between them romantically in the end, but they both hope to be able to build on their friendship and remain close in a platonic way.”

The tabloid stayed clear of claiming that the couple contacting each other frequently was a sign of them getting back together, while conveniently leaving the room open for such a conclusion, saying, “that’s definitely a possibility in the future.”

Gossip Cop pointed out that while it was true that the couple had an amicable breakup, the claim that they were in “regular” contact with each other, be it via phone calls or texts, was not true, after confirming it with the representatives of both Aniston and Theroux.

It is also important to mention “The Girl on the Train” actor talked in past-tense while talking about his relationship with his estranged wife during an interview with the New York Times earlier this month. He said they “respected each other enough that it was as painless as it could be,” suggesting they were not presently in contact with each other.

Furthermore, Theroux stressed on the fact that they had a “gentle separation” and there was “no animosity” between them.
