Gibson spent years covering the front lines of some the biggest political news. As a national political reporter at POLITICO, Gibson covered the 2012 presidential campaign, traveling with Newt Gingrich during the Republican primary and Mitt Romney during the general election. The trail took her from southern California to Vermont, reporting in 40 states over the course of a year and detailing the nitty-gritty details of a presidential campaign. After surviving the campaign trail, Gibson worked as a congressional reporter at POLITICO, covering the fiscal cliff at the end of 2012 and the government shutdown of October 2013.

Previously, Gibson covered New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie for The Star-Ledger in Newark, N.J. She also worked at The News Journal in Wilmington, Del., covering the legislature, governor's office and the 2010 Senate race between Chris Coons and Christine O'Donnell.  Gibson graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in mass communications with a concentration in political communications. She is a native of Port Arthur, Texas. She is a rabid fan of the Houston Astros and learned to knit to overcome her fear of flying in 2012.
