Camila Mendes has been very open about her body issues so in honor of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, she shared an advice for people who may be struggling with problems that she faced before.

On Monday, the “Riverdale” actress took to Instagram to write a lengthy post on how she grew to accept her body after ceasing to chase after the idea of abiding to the only acceptable body shape.

“I was never concerned with weight and numbers, but I cared a lot about having a flat tummy, no cellulite, and those ‘give that girl a sandwich’ arms that make you look slender from every angle,” she admitted in her post.

The 24-year-old celebrity then revealed that she only learned to care about making healthy choices for her well-being when she stopped obsessing over her everyday dietary choices that she thought helped her achieve the ideal body shape.

Interestingly, Mendes shared that she also made “bad” choices because they made her feel free and enabled her to not feel like she’s “trapped in an unhappy lifestyle.”

She then added that she was actually terrified when she gave herself the freedom to do some “bad” choices because she feared that she might gain a lot of weight. But then, the opposite happened to her.

Charles Melton’s girlfriend said that she still looks the same even after one year of not dieting. She added that she’s become stronger due to training, but she’s also a lot “healthier and happier” now that she’s accepted her body shape.

“Whenever I struggle I always come back to this: Why should I care to look like a runway model when my curves got me lookin’ like a damn fertile, renaissance goddess. Find the beauty in your body. I promise you it’s there,” she ended her post.

Mendes first opened up about her eating disorder struggles in 2017 when she partnered with Project HEAL to help raise funds for those who are battling eating disorders. At the time, she revealed on Instagram that she saw how her big sister suffered because of the condition growing up and that she experienced some symptoms, as well.

Last year, she disclosed to Shape how she feared eating carbs before that she wouldn’t eat bread and rice for a week, but she would end up binging on them and having regrets. The actress said that a nutritionist helped her overcome this problem and addressed her “crazy urge to binge.”
