Veteran actor Robert De Niro is the most recent victim of Shanice Aviles, a "known burglar" with a lengthy rap sheet in New York City. De Niro's townhouse in Manhattan's Upper East Side was broken into early Monday.

Cops from the 19th Precinct Public Safety team, who had been keeping an eye on Aviles, 30, spotted her entering De Niro's rental home at around 2:30 a.m. She gained access by breaking in through the basement door, the New York Post reported citing officials and sources.

Aviles, who has been arrested at least 26 times before, was reportedly caught red-handed as she went through the presents kept under the Christmas tree and attempted to remove property from the home.

A resident of Union Square, Aviles has been charged in six incidents this year alone, the outlet reported citing court documents.

14 hours after Aviles was caught breaking into the home, De Niro reportedly left his home around 4:40 p.m. Monday. "I'm good, thank you," the actor told reporters while leaving the complex.

Nearly 10 bags from Nobu, a restaurant co-owned by De Niro, were brought to the apartment around 1:30 p.m., the New York Times reported. An hour later, the building staff was seen installing new deadbolts to the main door of the building.

De Niro, 79, is a native of New York City. With almost 60 years in the industry, the Oscar-winning actor is known for his collaborations with director Martin Scorsese. De Niro's latest venture was in the role of Sheriff Church in the Randall Emmitt directorial, "Savage Salvation," which was released on Dec. 2.

The actor is most popularly known for the 1974 film, "The Godfather: Part II" where he played the role of a young Vito Corleone. De Niro won his second Oscar for the 1980 film, "Raging Bull," for his portrayal of a boxer named Jake La Motta. His other popular films include "The Irishman," "The Deer Hunter," "A Bronx Tale," "Goodfellas," "Taxi Driver" and "Meet The Parents."

According to the entertainment website Celebrity Net Worth, De Niro has an estimated net worth of $500 million. He reportedly made $250 – $300 million between 2004 and 2018 through film salaries and business dividends.
