Original “Roswell” fans saw a familiar face on the rebooted “Roswell, New Mexico” last week. Jason Behr, who played Max in the original, was revealed to be playing Tripp, a character in the 1940s flashbacks. In Monday’s new episode, he’ll work with Liz actress Shiri Appleby—but not onscreen.

Appleby directs Monday’s episode of “Roswell, New Mexico,” marking her second turn behind the lens on the CW alien drama. Shortly after the reboot was announced, the “UnReal” star made it clear that she wanted to direct, and the team at “RNM” was more than happy to bring her in.

The actress has been focusing more and more on directing in recent years. In the last year, she has helmed episodes of “Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists,” “Light as a Feather” and “Mixed-ish.”

Appleby is most active on Instagram, having previously posted fun throwbacks and reunions with Behr. She promised fans that she’d be sharing more snaps from the new episode.

Shortly after “Roswell, New Mexico” was announced, Appleby said she’d love to direct the show, but she also noted she was looking for a way to work with the Max Evans to her Liz Parker again.

“Jason Behr and I are back in touch and really close and we’re actually looking for something to work on together,” she said at the time. It looks like they found their project with The CW show.

When the show was launching, current Liz Ortecho actress Jeanine Mason told International Business Times of the original cast, “They’re just so happy for us and they’re so wonderful in offering their support in any way that can happen.”

Unfortunately, the synopsis for “Roswell, New Mexico” Season 2, episode 4 doesn’t reveal much about what will happen in Behr’s flashback story arc. Here’s the logline:

On the verge of a breakthrough in her quest to save Max (Nathan Dean), Liz (Jeanine Mason) turns to Kyle (Michael Trevino) for one last favor that could potentially land him in hot water. Meanwhile, Michael (Michael Vlamis) and Alex's (Tyler Blackburn) investigation into Nora (guest star Kayla Ewell) leads them to a farm, where they meet a historian named Forrest (guest star Christian Antidormi). Elsewhere, Cameron (guest star Riley Voelkel) confronts Jesse Manes (Trevor St. John) about her sister's whereabouts, and Isobel (Lily Cowles) uses her powers for good.

Watch "Roswell, New Mexico" Season 2 on Monday at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
