Publicly, some of the British royal family has shared their support for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry following their announcement they're leaving their senior royal positions. However, In Touch Weekly reports it’s a different story behind closed doors.

In their Jan. 27 print edition, it is revealed that the royals are telling friends and close advisers their true thoughts on the “crisis at the palace,” with the magazine claiming the Mountbatten-Windsor clan is “extremely angry” about Meghan and Harry’s leave.

“Both of the queen’s statements are very diplomatic, as expected, but emotions are running high...,” a royal source said. “The family feels betrayed by Harry and Meghan. They’re hurt, they feel lied to, and they’re sad because, basically, they’re losing Harry.”

According to the magazine, some members suspect the big change was all Meghan’s doing. Said a source, “The family knows Harry has always been a rebel, but they don’t think this ever would have happened had Meghan not entered the picture. She has Harry wrapped around her finger.”

Prince William, Harry’s older brother, is said to be especially hurt by the announcement. According to the outlet’s findings, the Duke of Cambridge has expressed that he wished Harry “had just come to him first.” Added a source, “His relationship with Harry is more strained than ever.”

While the royals may be struggling in private, it is said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are excited about their new lifestyle-- living part-time in North America and working to become financially independent.

“They want their own life, and the quicker they get it, the better,” said a source. “They couldn’t wait to pull the trigger on making this move.”
