RuPaul’s net worth is $60 million. This is how he created his “Drag Race” empire.

Born RuPaul Andre Charles, the icon of the whole drag community started his major success on the small screen in 2009 with the first season of "RuPaul's Drag Race." Aside from its success in the country, the show gained international following in the U.K., Canada and Australia. In 2013, Cosmopolitan reported that the host was making $50,000 per episode at that time. When adjusted to the current inflation and the increased negotiation per new season, it is safe to say that RuPaul is making a lot more per episode today.

He was able to leverage the success of “Drag Race” into podcasts and spinoffs such as “Drag Race All Stars,” "RuPaul's Drag U," and “Drag Race UK.” Aside from leading the productions on the shows, he also makes money on the side appearing on different radio and TV shows on top of maintaining a podcast.

The 59-year-old also penned two best-selling books such as “Lettin’ It All Hang Out: An Autobiography” and “Guru.” Another steady income stream for the San Diego, California native is his collaboration with Mally Beauty. On top of these lucrative deals is a long list of movies he appeared in in the 1990s and some recent Netflix shows.

What others may not know is that not everything RuPaul touches turns to gold. He had his fair share of canceled shows. He hosted talk shows "Good Work" and “RuPaul” but both got canceled after a few episodes. This did not dampen his spirit as he continued taking on projects after projects to expand his portfolio and bank accounts.

Even the music industry is not spared from the “Queen of Drag.” He released “Supermodel,” which went on to become a hit and reached the 45th spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and placed second on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, per Celebrity Net Worth.

Like other multimillionaires, the six-time Emmy Award winner is focused on investing in properties. He has acquired a Wyoming ranch, a $13.7 million mansion in Beverly Hills and a condo in West Hollywood.

“Drag Race” has turned some contestants to stars in their own right. Bianca Del Rio is one of the most popular contestants ever, but there is also Trixie Mattel. Adore Delano, Kim Chi, Violet Chachki, Alaska, Willam Belli, Aquaria and Manila Luzon. The aforementioned stars can thank RuPaul for paving the way for their careers and some of them even have collaborations with makeup brands at present.

On the personal side, the executive producer is married to Australian painter Georges LeBar. The two tied the knot in 2017.
