  • Zelensky said Russia's terror tactic includes forcibly deporting citizens to filtration camps
  • He also accused Russians of using artillery strikes to hold cities hostage
  • He previously warned that Russia could invade European nations next year

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday warned that Russia could use terror tactics to invade other countries in Asia and Europe next.

In his video address at the Asian Leadership Conference held in Seoul, Zelensky said Russia’s “terror tactic” involved five steps, including holding cities hostage using artillery strikes, using missiles to force people out of their homes, forcibly deporting citizens, blockading ports to create a shock to the economy and, finally, spreading Russian propaganda about the invasion.

In his speech, Zelensky also accused Russia of setting up filtration camps where Ukrainians from temporarily-occupied territories are sent, adding that some people in the camps have gone missing.

“All deported people are stripped of their means of communication, their documents; they are intimidated and taken to remote areas of Russia so it will be harder for them to return to their Motherland,” Zelensky added, as translated by Pravda.

The Ukrainian leader is now calling on other nations to “harshly punish the occupiers” for forcibly deporting Ukrainians, blocking ports and disseminating lies about the invasion.

“[This terror tactic] must not become the global norm,” Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian president’s latest speech was not the first time he warned against Russia potentially invading other nations. In late June, he warned the leaders of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) that Russian President Vladimir Putin could come for European nations, including Moldova, the Baltic countries and Poland in about a year.

“Next year could be a worse situation [for] not only Ukraine but also several other states, possibly members of the alliance… under fire from Russia,” he said at the time.

His earlier warning came after Viacheslav Volodin, Head of Russia’s State Duma, on June 12 threatened a possible nuclear conflict against Poland if it provided nuclear weapons to Ukraine for use in the war.

Russian TV host and prominent state propagandist Olga Skabeeva also previously said that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine spurred the beginning of World War III. Skabeeva added that this means Russia should demilitarize not only Ukraine but also the entire NATO alliance, including Poland.
