The much-anticipated iPhone 8 is expected to be released this September and could see competition from Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8.

The Galaxy Note 8 will likely be launched in September “at the earliest,” according to a recent DigiTimes report. This means Samsung and Apple will go head-to-head when they release their smartphones.

Previous reports have said Samsung will announce its device August 23, but it could ship a few weeks later in September, suppliers in Taiwan told DigiTimes.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Features, Rumors

The Galaxy Note 8 will follow the disastrous Galaxy Note 7. Last year, Samsung struggled with the global recall of the fire-prone Note 7. Issues with the device cost the company $5.3 billion in operating profit, Samsung said.

The Note 8 is expected to come with an AMOLED Infinity Display which could be larger than 6.3 inches. The device is expected to sport a similar design as the Galaxy S8, which was released earlier this year. The smartphone is rumored to come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor and with 6GB of RAM.

The device’s battery is expected to have a smaller capacity than the exploding Note 7. The Note 8 battery is rumored to come with 3,300 mAh, while the Note 7 had a defective 3,500 mAh battery. Samsung will sell a 64GB model of the Note 8 and could offer a 128GB model as well. The smartphone would also support expandable storage of up to 256GB.

The Galaxy Note 8 could be priced at $1,000.

iPhone 8 Features, Rumors

The iPhone 8 is rumored to come with a bezel-less OLED display screen. Apple reportedly signed a two-year deal worth $9 billion with Samsung for OLED panels. The iPhone maker is set to receive 80 million panels delivered from the Korean company for the upcoming 10th anniversary device.

The iPhone 8, which could also be called the iPhone X, iPhone Pro or iPhone Edition, is rumored to come with an embedded Touch ID, wireless charging technology and a vertical dual-camera system for better pictures. The device could also come with a 3D-sensing front camera, which could allow for augmented reality and virtual reality capabilities, as well as facial recognition technology. Apple’s upcoming smartphone could also come with a True Tone feature for the display, a 10W power adapter with USB-C connector and an integrated USB-C Power Delivery chip, which will allow for faster charging.

Besides the rumored features, the iPhone 8 will also get a boost from the iOS 11 update, which is due this fall. Some iOS 11 features include person-to-person payments with Apple Pay, the Do Not Disturb While Driving feature and an upgrade to Siri.

The iPhone 8 is rumored to launch alongside two LCD models, the 4.7-inch iPhone 7S and 5.5-inch 7S Plus. The 10th anniversary iPhone could cost over $1,000.
