One man died while one woman was critically injured when a Slope Park apartment in Brooklyn caught fire on Wednesday.

According to The New York Post, fire and police officials received a two-fire alarm call around 2:05 AM for a fire that broke out on the top floor of a four-story building at 155th Ave. off Lincoln Place.

A 37-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were found unconscious in an apartment and were rescued by the fire crew.

The still unnamed pair were given CPR before they were rushed to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.

The man died shortly while the woman is in critical but stable condition, reports said.

In an ABC 7 NY report, no other injuries were reported and this was due to the fire being contained only in that one apartment by a closed door.

The building was reportedly not fireproof and according to other residents, the fire alarms in their respective apartments went off which alerted them to get out.

Investigation is still on-going to determine the cause of the fire while the American Red Cross aided the displaced residents.
