Sony is increasing the prices of its PlayStation Vue subscription packages later this month. Customers will see the $5 price increase next month when their new bill arrives.

Vice president and head of PlayStation Vue Dwayne Benefield announced the imminent price change in a blog post published on Monday. “We wanted to provide advance notice to our PlayStation Vue customers about an upcoming change to PS Vue’s multi-channel plans. Starting July 24, 2018, the price for all PS Vue multi-channel plans — Access, Core, Elite and Ultra — will increase by $5.”

Existing subscribers will see the changed rates reflected on their billing cycle after this month. Benefield clarified that PS Vue’s add-ons and standalone channels will not be affected by the announced price change for the subscription service’s plans.

According to Benefield, they decided to increase the prices of PS Vue plans to keep up with the rising business costs and to ensure the quality of content they offer to subscribers. “At PlayStation, we are always evaluating the PS Vue service to ensure we are providing a compelling value to our customers. Unfortunately, we must increase the price of our multi-channel plans to keep pace with rising business costs and enable us to continue offering a better way to watch the best in live sports, entertainment and news.”

Along with the price change, Benefield announced Sony’s plans to enhance PS Vue’s features. “We vow to continue providing exceptional service to our customers, with plans to add more broadcast stations and content that resonates with fans, as well as ongoing feature enhancements.” Benefield also assured customers that they will strive to improve the service so they can maintain PS Vue’s status as the top pay-TV streaming service according to the American Customer Satisfaction Index.

PS Vue is an American over-the-top (OTT) internet television service designed to replace cable or satellite TV. The service currently offers access to a number of cable channels and networks, including Discovery Channel, Disney Channel, HGTV, ESPN, AMC, The Food Network and many more. The service also has premium channels, such as HBO, Showtime and Cinemax, according to DualShockers.

Moving forward, Sony will continue to provide PS Vue clients with access to rich features that come with the standard monthly plan without additional cost. Therefore, everyone can still enjoy five simultaneous streams, cloud-based DVR and multi-view on PS4.
