Not long ago, Sony officially announced that the Xperia Z lineup of flagship series will be discontinued. Following this, the Japanese tech giant introduced Xperia X, Xperia XA and Xperia X Performance recently. However, now, a new report says mid-rangers like Sony Xperia C and Xperia M series will be axed by the tech giant.

The independent and unofficial XperiaBlog.net apparently got access to a bunch of leaked Sony Mobile presentation slides sourced from various Asian tech media houses. Sony has listed down all the future handsets in those slides and the road map is valid until 2018.

Going by the slides, it’s clear that Sony will be concentrating on the new Xperia X lineup, which caters to all segments of buyers. For instance, the Xperia X is an upper-mid range device, while the Xperia XA and Xperia X Performance are mid-range and high-end handsets, respectively.

Hence, it’s safe to assume that Sony might be interested in maintaining a single series, but it will encompass all types of devices under it. However, readers should note that Sony has not officially confirmed this report yet.

The Xperia X lineup has not hit the store shelves yet. When it comes to pricing, U.S-specific details are unknown at this point. However, European details got leaked recently.

Going by the leaked list, Sony’s flagship Xperia X Performance will reportedly set the buyers back by 699 euros ($790) in France. This device is now available for preorder via online stores in Europe and the shipping date has been set in July.

The mid-range Sony Xperia XA, on the other hand, carries a price tag of 299 euros in France. This device will be shipped starting the week of June 20. The upper mid-range Sony Xperia X will reportedly cost 599 euros in France. The shipping service specific to this handset will begin in the week of May 23.
