On the heels of the Spice Girls comeback tour, the group has recently added another project to their portfolio. Working in partnership with Paramount Animation, the "Wannabe" singers have decided to produce an animated feature film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the girls approached the studio's animation president, Mireille Soria, with a concept for an animated feature. Choosing this particular studio appears to be an intentional girl power move as it is known to boast a mostly female senior staff. This will be the first time the singers have been seen in a feature film since 1997's "Spice World."

Fortunately for Spice Girls fans around the globe, all five members of the group, including Melanie Brown (Scary), Emma Bunton (Baby), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty), Geri Halliwell (Ginger), and Victoria Beckham (Posh) -- are on board with this project. This most likely will come as a welcome surprise as Beckham opted not to join the group's current concert tour. In addition, this movie will include both classic songs as well as new music.

The screenplay will be written by Karen McCullah and Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith, the writing team behind several hit films, including "10 Things I Hate About You" and "Legally Blonde."

However, this would not mark the first instance where the girls were turned into cartoons. In their 1997 "Viva Forever" music video, the members were turned into animated fairies. Then, in 1998, a PlayStation game titled "Spice World" was released where players were able to choreograph dance moves in a faux animated music video. It will be interesting to see the design evolution, as there has been a considerable gap in time from their last outing as cartoon characters.

Currently, the film is in the early stages of development but reportedly has a planned 2020 release.
