Following years of controversial statements, “Clueless” actress Stacey Dash opened up about why she is no longer supporting Donald Trump. Dash's comments drew attention on Twitter, where her name was a trending topic.

In a chat with the Daily Mail on Wednesday, Dash reflected on the Jan. 6 storming of the Capitol by Trump loyalists, which led to the end of her support for the former president.

“I think the Capitol Riots were appalling,” she said. “When that happened I was like ‘O.K., I’m done. I’m truly done.’ Because senseless violence of any kind I denounce. What happened on Jan. 6 was just appalling and stupid.”

Dash, 55, went on to apologize for the controversial comments she made while working as a Fox News contributor.

“I’ve lived my life being angry, which is what I was on Fox News,” she explained. “I was the angry, conservative, Black woman. And at that time in my life, it was who I was.”

In 2017, Fox News did not renew Dash's contract, ending a nearly three-year run. During her time on the right-leaning network, Dash called for the end of Black History Month and criticized the BET Awards.

Dash voted for Barack Obama in 2008 but supported Republican nominee Mitt Romney in 2012 because she wanted “the next four years to be different."

In the interview, Dash struck a conciliatory tone.

“There are things that I am sorry for. Things that I did say, that I should not have said them the way I said them,” Dash said.

“They were very arrogant and prideful and angry. And that’s who Stacey was, but that’s not who Stacey is now. Stacey’s someone who has compassion, empathy.”

She is now encouraging conservatives to embrace President Joe Biden and give him “a chance.”

Dash plans on tone down her political commentary. She now describes herself as "apolitical," as well as "anti-abortion," and "not a feminist."
