JJ Abrams and his team are currently busy filming “Star Wars: Episode 9.” Cast member John Boyega recently shared a picture from the production set and said that the team was able to achieve something “visually crazy” on that day of filming.

In the picture Boyega shared on Instagram, the actor showed just how dirty his hands got after filming a scene. What is also noteworthy is that there is a drop of blood on his left thumb.

“Great working day on set!” Boyega teased in the post.

The actor also wrote that the cast and crew members pushed themselves on that day to achieve something “visually crazy.” “I’ve had many moments of shock on set but not like today and I can’t wait until you know why,” Boyega wrote.

The actor didn’t explain which specific scene he was filming and who else was involved in the shoot.

“Star Wars” is known for delivering some visually spectacular scenes, especially when it comes to space battles. Judging by Boyega’s post, the upcoming film will involve some gritty action sequences on the ground as well.

Most of the filming should be done already. The production actually began way back in August last year. According to a report by Screen Rant, the filming may wrap by next month. Abrams and his team will then get busy with the post-production process that involves adding the computer graphics and deleting unnecessary scenes.

According to Fox News, Abrams began the production of the movie by honoring the late actress Carrie Fisher. Fisher’s character Leia will be back in the film. Abrams will be using some unseen footage from “The Force Awakens” to bring the character back one last time.

Very little is known about the plot of the film. With this being the last movie in the new trilogy, it is expected to focus on the final battle between the Resistance and the First Order.

“Star Wars: Episode 9” will be released on Dec. 20 in the U.S.
