The joy of victory and misery of defeat were on full display in the Super Bowl 2015 matchup between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at University of Phoenix Stadium. The Patriots outlasted the Seahawks to win a back-and-forth title game, 28-24.

All of that excitement and emotion provided for great pictures and video clips. Social media and sideline photographers provided captivating images of the 49th Super Bowl.

The New England duo of head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady won their fourth Super Bowl and first since 2005. Brady was the game's MVP, throwing for 328 yards and four touchdowns, accounting for all of New England's scores.

The Seahawks failed to repeat as champions and drew criticism for passing on a second-and-goal play from the New England 1-yard line, with just 20 seconds remaining. Little-known Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler intercepted quarterback Russell Wilson's pass and sealed a New England victory. Many viewers and experts thought Seattle should have handed the ball to star running back Marshawn Lynch.

Butler's interception came moments after one of the most dramatic plays of the game. Seahawks wide receiver Jermaine Kearse made a circus catch after the ball bounced off his legs to set up Seattle's final goal-line series. Two plays later Wilson's pass was intercepted by Butler and the game was effectively over.

Seattle rookie receiver Chris Matthews played a key role in the Super Bowl, as well. He helped keep the Seahawks in the game with four important catches for 109 yards. He also added an 11-yard touchdown catch that tied the score at 14-14 just before the end of the first half.

Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski swung the game when he caught a lofted touchdown pass from Brady that gave New England a 14-7 second-quarter lead. But it was crafty receiver Julian Edelman who helped decide the game with a fourth-quarter touchdown that proved to be the game winner.

The postgame New England celebration and Seattle dejection provided some powerful moments as well. Brady looked jubilated after waiting 11 years to hold the Lombardi trophy again. Fans in Boston took to the streets and yelled late into the night. Seattle, on the other hand, had to deal with a loss that came on an unlikely play in the dying moments. Seahawks fans were likely expecting a win with the ball at the 1-yard line, and Lynch in the backfield. In one play, everything changed.
