Alex is going to hook up with someone later this season of CW’s “Supergirl.”

Earlier this week, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed to Variety that Alex (Chyler Leigh) is going to have a “fun and funny hookup” months after her split with Maggie (Floriana Lima). And in a more recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the EP confirmed that the hookup isn’t something that will lead into a serious relationship.

“There’s going to be — I can’t say relationship or even a romance — but Alex is going to have a fun interaction in the upcoming episodes that’s funny and sweet, but also speaks to the Maggie story, which we love,” Kreisberg teased.

In a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kreisberg said that even though Alex will soon be on the road to recovery following her heartbreak with Maggie, it doesn’t necessarily mean that she’ll be moving on easily.

“Just as in life, you wouldn’t immediately jump into a new relationship after that big of a loss, we’re not going to have Alex do that either,” Kreisberg said. “That certainly doesn’t mean that she’s returned to being straight. Her life as a gay woman will continue to be explored, but I’m not necessarily sure we’ll have her in a new relationship again this season. I’m sure next season, but I think that’ll be enough time for both Alex the character, us as writers, and the audience — that’ll be the time that all of us will need before we could replace somebody as amazing and powerful and iconic as Maggie.”

In fact, Maggie’s presence will still be felt on the show even though viewers will no longer see her. “She’ll still be mentioned,” Kreisberg told Variety of Maggie. “We’re writing an episode now where — Floriana isn’t in it — but Maggie gets into contact with Alex, and we see Alex’s reaction to the first reach out after months. Just because Floriana isn’t on the show, it doesn’t mean Maggie is forgotten. It’s always our hope that if we can work out the right story and timing that she will come back.”

“Supergirl” Season 3 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
