  • The group’s mini-album, “SuperM,” debuted at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 last year

K-pop group SuperM released its first-ever studio album, “Super One,” on Friday, Sept. 25, with songs that convey an uplifting message for fans.

In an online press conference to promote its new album, SuperM, which consists of singers from four different K-pop groups, revealed that hope is the theme binding all the songs in “Super One” together, USA Today reported.

“We always want to be artists that give positive energy and positive vibes and strength to our listeners,” Baekhyun, who is also part of K-pop group EXO, said. “I feel like this album is going to be that kind of album.”

“This album bears our message of hope,” Kai, another EXO member, explained. “It includes many different genres of music, and there is one key message that pervades the entire album. We’re living through a difficult time right now. Let’s come together as one to overcome it, and I’d like it if many people found hope.”

SuperM's “Super One” is a follow-up to the boy band’s debut mini-album “SuperM,” which debuted at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart following its release in October last year.

Their lead single is “One (Monster & Infinity),” which, according to SM Entertainment, is “a hybrid remix track that expresses the determined will to overcome hardships without fear and reach higher.”

Although SuperM is a relatively new group, having formed just last year, Taemin, Baekhyun, Kai, Mark, Taeyong, Lucas and Ten have managed to form a family-like bond during their time together.

“We’ve been through a lot and have always been there for each other through thick and thin so naturally, we’ve gotten very close,” Taemin, who is also a member of Shinee, told Billboard. “They’re like family now. We didn’t have to ‘try’ to become close, it just naturally happened -- as if we were destined to be in the same group.”

Like other artists, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has pushed SuperM to use digital platforms to connect with fans, and Baekhyn revealed that they have more creative content in store for them.

“Planning the album promotion during pandemic was a little different, since everything had to be done online,” he told Billboard. “We had to think of fun and unique ways to interact with our fans, from creating our own reality show to holding livestream, AR tech-based concerts. We have a lot more creative content in store for our fans.”
