A 16-year-old boy who admitted to stabbing his grandmother "too many" times "to count" and took a picture of her corpse before leaving their Florida home was indicted on murder charges Tuesday.

The suspect, identified as Jaylin Christian, allegedly killed his 57-year-old grandmother, Muriel Emerson, in their house in Rockledge on Sept. 7. The teen was charged with premeditated murder in the first degree and would be tried as an adult, Law & Crime reported, citing Brevard County State Attorney's Office.

Deputies contacted Christian at a gas station in Cocoa after the 911 dispatch received a text message, the content of which is not yet revealed.

Christian confessed to killing Emerson during the interaction with the deputies. When asked by cops how many times he stabbed his grandmother, the boy said "too many to count," according to Click Orlando.

When the cops responded to the residence, they found Emerson's body covered in a blanket inside the kitchen. She reportedly suffered multiple "sharp force" injuries and her body was in a large pool of blood.

Investigators determined that Emerson and Christian had been living together for the past few months. On the day Emerson was killed, Christian skipped school and got in touch with cops to say he ran away. However, Christian was taken into custody and returned to his grandmother.

Christian reportedly claimed that while he was back at the house, he experienced homicidal thoughts and attacked Emerson using a knife from the kitchen. Although Emerson tried to escape and the knife broke, Christian continued the attack after he got hold of another knife, police said.

After the brutal killing, Christian took a photograph of the corpse and stole some money from the victim. He then covered her body with a blanket and left the scene, the arrest affidavit indicated, according to the outlet.

"The city experienced a heinous crime," Rockledge Police Chief Joseph LaSata said, as per Law & Crime. "It was calculated. It was brutal."

Christian, who was initially detained in a juvenile detention center, has been ordered to be moved to Brevard County Jail, where he will be held without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 16.
