An infant accidentally shot himself and a four-year-old boy at a motel in Fort Worth, Texas, on Monday night.

Police responded to Dalworth Inn in south Fort Worth Monday night after receiving a shooting report.

Fort Worth Police Department Spokesperson Buddy Calzada said the one-year-old child got hold of a gun which accidentally went off, resulting in both the children getting hurt. The four-year-old boy was hit in the lower part of his body by a fragmented bullet. Both the children were rushed to a local hospital for treatment and were listed in a stable condition.

Local reports stated that the parking lot of the motel was protected with a crime scene tape following the incident. Detectives with the Crimes Against Children Unit were investigating the incident. Additional information regarding the relationship between the boys and how the infant managed to get hold of the weapon were not known.

This is the third shooting incident in the motel in less than seven months. The first incident took place in October where a man, identified as 40-year-old Randel Demon Johnson, was killed. Police responded to the motel room and found Johnson lying unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The medical examiner’s office concluded that the death was a homicide and that the man suffered gunshot wounds to his head. Following this, William Earl Love was taken into custody and charged with capital murder. The relationship between the two men was not known.

The following month, two men sustained injuries after being shot. Police responded to the motel after receiving a call from a woman stating that her husband was shot. Upon arrival, the officers found the victim with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was rushed to a local hospital in a serious condition. Meanwhile, it was revealed that another victim was shot by the suspect as he left his room. The second victim, who was shot in the hand, was treated at the scene.
