Police sought five suspects Thursday in a shooting at South Park Mall in San Antonio that left four people hurt, one critically.

No motive was immediately released in the shooting, which occurred about 9 p.m. in the mall’s breezeway. Reports said multiple shots were fired as shoppers tried to escape the chaos.

“It was barely inside the mall,” San Antonio Police Chief William McManus told reporters. “There’s a shallow breezeway on the far end of the entrance into the mall. It happened just inside that breezeway when the victims were just about to exit the inside of the mall.”

Four people reportedly were shot and wounded in the chaos as three of the alleged suspects fired into the mall. The shooters then fled the scene before police arrived, reportedly driving off in a black Dodge Charger where two accomplices were waiting.

While McManus didn’t release the victims’ names, he said the victims were three men, ages 17, 26, and 41, and one woman, 19. All four were rushed to nearby hospitals for bullet wounds to their feet and abdomens. One of the victims was reported in critical condition and one in serious condition. Three of those injured were reported stable.

“I just saw everyone screaming, yelling and crying,” witness Bryan Reyna told San Antonio NBC-affiliate, WOAI. “Everybody started running out of Chili's. They were just pushing everyone.”
