Last month, a woman in Texas shot her young children and her own mother before killing herself. Police said the exact motive was unknown, noting that the woman losing custody of her children to her estranged husband could have prompted the killings.

The incident took place inside a house at the Sedona Ranch Apartments on Henderson Pass. San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said in a news briefing that authorities believe the woman was ordered by a court to turn her 3-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son over to their father.

The bodies were found by the children’s father when he checked inside from a crack in the window at the rear side of the apartment. The responding officers found the bodies of the woman, her children, and her mother in two separate bedrooms.

In another case of murder-suicide in Texas, a 73-year-old man fatally shot a 41-year-old woman before killing himself, the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office said. Local authorities said that the duo was in a relationship for four years. The victims were identified as Lindolfo Meza Sanchez and Bertha Bermudez.

“Investigators learned Sanchez had been in a relationship with Bermudez for about four years and the couple had been living together for eleven months,” the news release stated. “A history check on the property and parties involved didn’t show any history of family violence. After the residence was processed, no signs of forced entry or burglary were found.”
