ABC network's "This Week" executive producer, Dax Tejera, died at the age of 37 due to a sudden heart attack.

ABC News president Kim Godwin shared the tragic news over the weekend, revealing Tejera died Friday night.

"It's with a heavy heart and great sadness that we share that our friend and colleague, Dax Tejera passed away suddenly of a heart attack last night," Godwin stated, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "As EP of 'This Week with George Stephanopoulos' Dax's energy, passion and love for that show, ABC News, and you, shined every Sunday morning."

The statement continued, "That same love was extended to his precious girls. Our thoughts are with his wife, Veronica, the couple's two young daughters, and the entire Tejera family."

Godwin concluded the statement by noting that more details will be shared in the coming days.

Tejera, who is survived by his wife, Veronica, and two daughters - 2-year-old Sofia and 5-month-old Ella, joined the ABC network in 2017 as a senior producer. Before taking this position, he was working as an executive producer for Jorge Ramos' show, "Real America" for Fusion network.

He also served as a producer at the television channel, MSNBC.

Since the tragic news broke, many Twitter users including ABC News correspondent, John Quiñones mourned the executive producer's death.

"Such a heartbreaking day for all of us at @abcnews Dax Tejera was not only the brightest - most compassionate - executive producer I've ever worked with, he was also a dear friend," he tweeted. "On this Christmas Day, my thoughts are with his wife, Veronica and his two baby daughters."

Photojournalist Anthony Quintano also shared photos of himself working with Tejera in the studio.

"I'm shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of my friend and former colleague @DaxTejera. He was an amazing force in the news industry and will be sorely missed," he tweeted. "Rest in peace, my friend."

Just a day before his heart attack, the executive producer shared a series of photos on his Instagram Friday, where he captioned the post, "Merry Christmas!"

In the first photo, he can be seen posing with President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden while in the second photo, his daughters can be seen hugging. The last photo featured him posing with his wife and two kids.
