Tom Holland has revealed that he pitched Sony Pictures to play a young James Bond but instead, he was given the role of Nathan Drake, a popular game's character, in his upcoming movie, "Uncharted."

The 25-year-old actor recalled that he had a word with Sony regarding the young James Bond film idea but "it didn't really make sense."

"I had a meeting, after or during Spider-Man 2 [Far From Home], with Sony to pitch this idea of a young Bond film that I’d come up with," Holland told Total Film on Thursday. "It was the origin story of James Bond. It didn’t really make sense. It didn’t work."

However, Holland explained that this conversation sparked the idea of the "Uncharted" movie where he will show the origin of Nathan Drake, the protagonist of the Uncharted video game series.

"It was the dream of a young kid, and I don’t think the Bond estate were particularly interested," he said, adding: "The idea of a young Bond film sparked this idea, in turn, that you could do a Nathan Drake story as an origin story, rather than as an addition to the games. And that opened a conversation."

Sony Pictures on Wednesday dropped a two-minute, 25-second exclusive video of a fight scene from "Uncharted," featuring Holland and co-star Mark Wahlberg.

"Uncharted" is helmed by director Ruben Fleischer. Screenwriters Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, who wrote "Iron Man," penned the script for the upcoming movie. The flick will also star Antonio Banderas and Patricia Meeden. The movie is slated to release exclusively in theaters on Feb. 18.

Besides "Uncharted," Holland will feature in an untitled biopic of Fred Astaire that is currently under pre-production.

Considering James Bond movies, Daniel Craig portrayed James Bond for the last in the movie, "No Time to Die," which was released on Sept. 30, last year. The franchise has not announced who will be the next James Bond yet.

However, there are many popular names that fans are suggesting on social media including Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy. Some fans also suggested that actress Lashana Lynch, who appeared in "No Time To Die," should be given the title of Bond.
