  • A man named Dion Cini claimed Major League Baseball banned him from all of its stadiums
  • The ban allegedly stemmed from his stunts, which involved him hanging "Trump won" banners in games
  • He encouraged others to mimic his stunts in his absence

A man from New York who kept displaying "Trump won" banners at baseball games has claimed he has been indefinitely banned from all Major League Baseball (MLB) stadiums over the stunts.

"Officially banned from the MLB. It was a good run!" Dion Cini told his followers on Twitter Sunday.

Cini had gone to Yankee Stadium, Citi Field, Fenway Park and Citizens Bank Park to hang the banners, Insider reported. He claimed security officials had told him he could come back another day despite being ejected from the stadiums. MLB officials, however, appeared to not share the same sentiments.

A one-page letter dated June 11 and allegedly signed by MLB security and ballpark operations vice president David Thomas noted that Cini had entered stadiums in the states of New York, Boston and Philadelphia in the past several weeks with the intention to conduct his "flag drops."

"This activity is prohibited at each of these stadiums, and your fan code of conduct violations resulted in your ejection from each of them. A review of your public statements indicates that you intend to continue this behavior at other Major League Baseball stadiums, and that you are encouraging others to conduct themselves likewise," read the alleged MLB letter, which Cini posted to Twitter.

"[Y]ou are hereby banned from all Major League Baseball stadiums and facilities," the alleged letter continued.

Cini confirmed Monday the letter's accusation that he was "encouraging others" to imitate his stunts in a post, where he also encouraged people to buy flags directly from his store and hang them at an MLB stadium in his absence. Additionally, he said those who would mimic his stunts with purchased banners and posted videos of the acts would get a full refund on their orders.

CNN described Cini as "a middle-aged former Marine from the Upper West Side [of New York]" in 2017. Cini claims to be a "guerilla marketeer" and "professional provocateur" in his Twitter profile.
